Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has extended an offer to South Korean companies to set up industries in the under-construction Dhabeji Special Economic Zone near Karachi.
The Sindh CM extended the offer to this effect while meeting the ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, Park Kijun, at the Chief Minister House on Wednesday. The meeting took into consideration bilateral ties between South Korea and Pakistan and potential investment opportunities in Pakistan for prospective foreign investors.
Shah told the South Korean diplomat that the under-construction Dhabeji Special Economic Zone offered attractive opportunities to prospective foreign investors and industries. He invited South Korean companies to invest in hi-tech industries, semiconductors and automobile manufacturing sectors in the province.
The South Korean ambassador recalled on the occasion that in the past, a South Korean company had collaborated with the Sindh government to build the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Dual Carriageway under the public-private partnership mode. Later, South Korea did not take part in any major development projects in Sindh.
The ambassador expressed interest in investing in the IT and automobile manufacturing sectors in Sindh. The CM assured him that the Sindh government would extend fullest support to the South Korean investors and companies willing to invest in the province.
He directed the provincial investment department to remain fully in touch with prospective South Korean investors to provide them with the fullest assistance for launching businesses and setting up industrial units in the province. A spokesperson for the Sindh CM said the meeting would prove to be a milestone in strengthening the Pakistan-South Korean mutual ties.
