Murder for ‘honour’

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent incident in Quetta, where a father allegedly took the life of his daughter over her TikTok videos. This tragedy highlights the alarming issue of so-called ‘honour killings’ in Pakistan, where women continue to suffer violence in the name of family reputation. Despite existing laws against honour killings, these crimes persist due to societal norms, lack of strict enforcement, and the practice of forgiving perpetrators within families.

It is crucial for the authorities to take strict action against such crimes and ensure justice is served. Awareness campaigns, community education, and strong legal measures must be implemented to change the mindset that justifies violence in the name of ‘honour’.
