The Ghotki police on Tuesday rescued three Karachi residents who had been abducted from Kashmore’s riverine (Kutcha) area nearly six weeks ago. Muhammad Owais, Muhammad Anas and Muhammad Faizyab Malik had been lured to District Kashmore under the pretence of a furniture polishing job.
Ghotki SSP Dr Samiullah Soomro said that leading a heavy police contingent, Ronti SHO Safiullah Ansari launched an operation in Goth Allah Bakhsh Ghaniyo, a notorious crime hotspot in the Kutcha area. Police strategically tightened their cordon around the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon the hostages and flee.
Upon their safe recovery, the rescued individuals recounted their harrowing ordeal: the kidnappers had tied them to a tree, and sent their photos and videos to their families to pressure them into paying ransoms for their release.
The Ghotki police ensured the victims’ safety and transported them to a secure location. After the completion of the legal formalities, they will be reunited with their families. SSP Soomro reaffirmed the police’s resolve to eradicate criminal elements from the region. “We will not tolerate kidnappers, bandits, or criminals in any form. Ghotki, once considered a crime-infested district, will be transformed into a haven of peace and security.”
This successful operation marks another significant step in the Sindh police’s ongoing crackdown on organised crime, ensuring that law and order prevail across the province, concluded the officer.
