Woman throws acid on man for refusing proposal

MULTAN: Makhdoom Rashid police on Thursday arrested a woman on a charge of throwing acid on her lover.
According to police, Shamim Mai alias Momil of Garewal village had developed relations with Sadaqat and wanted to contract marriage with him but he refused the proposal about five years ago. Later, Shamim was married to Riaz and Sadaqat to his cousin.
Shamim gave birth to four children but she did not forget Sadaqat. On Wednesday night, Shamim called Sadaqat to a place where she allegedly threw acid on him. As a result, he received burns on his back, neck and head. The victim was shifted to a hospital. Police have registered a case under Sections 336/D and 7-Anti Terrorism Act.

Talking to journalists here on Thursday, he said that there was a need to establish hot water treatment plants to tackle fruit fly issue and meet requirements of the world market. He said that the university was working on capacity building of the farmers in this regard. The VC said that we should get our fruit certified so that it may not be banned abroad. The Pakistani mango was placed in yellow category in recent years in the European markets, he added.
