Lawyers’ bodies form joint committee to press demand for SSP’s transfer
HYDERABAD: Representatives of the high court and district bar associations of Hyderabad on Friday formed a joint committee to press the lawyers’ demand for the transfer of Hyderabad SSP Farrukh Lanjar. The first meeting of the committee will take place today (February 22).
The dispute between the lawyers and police in Hyderabad has been going on for 16 days. The protest lawyers had put off agitation when SSP Lanjar went on leave. However, as he returned on the post on February 17, the lawyers resumed their protest.
On behalf of the lawyers’ leader Khuda Bux Leghari, an appeal was made to suspend the judicial activities in the High Court and District Bar of Hyderabad on Tuesday, February 18. Following this, lawyers boycotted courts in Karachi and Sanghar on Thursday.
On Friday, there was a complete boycott of courts by the lawyers in Hyderabad district. The lawyers’ agitation started after an FIR was registered against lawyer Ali Raza Bozdar who belongs to Tando Allahyar.
