Turkish envoy keen to start dual degree programme
LAHORE:Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Naziroglu has said that he wanted to promote joint research in the universities of Turkiye and Pakistan and start a dual degree programme in the universities of both countries. He said that the universities of both the countries will also organise an education fair.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting during his visit to Punjab University here on Friday. Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Ali welcomed the Turkish delegation. Turkish Consul General Durmus Bastug, Director External Linkages Yamina Salman, and officers of the Turkish Consulate were also present in the meeting.
Irfan Naziroglu said that mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye can be an example for other Muslim countries. “Turkiye and Pakistan could make great progress by utilising each other’s resources”. He said that they were working on an academic roadmap between Pakistan and Turkiye.
The Turkish ambassador said that the two countries will also promote cooperation in the fields of science, culture, engineering and medicine. “We need to further strengthen our relations with each other. Turkiye and Pakistan are also cooperating in the defense sector”.
Prof Dr M Ali said that the relations between Muslim countries could be further strengthened through the OIC platform. He said that Turkiye and Pakistan think alike and any Pakistani feels at home when he visits Turkiye. He said that we will play our role in promoting relations with Turkiye. He said that there is a need to institutionalise Pak-Turkish joint research. He also appreciated TIKA's projects in Pakistani universities.
