PHC moved against dismissal of employees recruited in caretaker govt
PESHAWAR: A writ petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court on Thursday against the dismissal of government employees recruited in various government departments during the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The petition sought to nullify the move and declare the government action under which these employees were being dismissed as illegal and unconstitutional. The writ petition was filed by the Pakistan People’s Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, through Gohar Rehman advocate. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, secretary Establishment, secretary Law, secretary Provincial Assembly and Advocate General have been made as respondents.
The petition pleaded that during the recent caretaker government, scores of employees were recruited into various government departments following all legal procedures, including advertisements in newspapers.
However, it said that when the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government came into power, it began working on an agenda to dismiss these employees. The petition argued that the provincial government had now formally passed the bill named the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Employees Act 2025 through the provincial assembly to remove these employees.
