ISLAMABAD: Power consumers across the country are set to get relief of Rs2/unit in their March bills, as ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDiscos) have submitted a petition to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) showing their willingness to refund this amount following higher charges levied in the previous month.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), on behalf of these utilities, has filed the application with the regulator to finalise the monthly fuel price adjustment (FCA) for January 2025.
Nepra has scheduled a public hearing on February 27 to evaluate whether the requested fuel charges variation is justified and if the companies adhered to the economic merit order in dispatching power from their plants and private suppliers.
Notably, K-Electric had earlier filed a petition with Nepra for refunding Rs4.95 per unit to its consumers in March bills on account of December FCA.
If approved, the refund will apply to all categories except lifeline users, domestic consumers using up to 300 units, electric vehicle charging stations, prepaid electricity consumers across all categories and agricultural consumers.
