PTI condemns Fawad for assaulting Shoaib
Calling Fawad’s action an ‘disgraceful act’, committee says it reflected his preference for brute force over reason
ISLAMABAD: The PTI political committee Monday strongly condemned Fawad Chaudhry’s physical assault on the party leader Shoaib Shaheen outside the Adiala Jail.
Calling Fawad’s action an ‘unprovoked and disgraceful act’, the committee said it reflected his preference for brute force over reason and logic.
It termed the attack an expression of ‘primal instincts over reason and logic’ and emphasised that this was not the first time he had resorted to force and intimidation to settle scores, with several similar incidents linked to his past behaviour.
The party’s political forum accused Fawad of frequently resorting to abusive language to undermine political opponents, calling it a reflection of his habitual vulgarity and lack of decorum. It condemned his actions as ‘criminal’ and a ‘slap in the PTI’s face,’ rather than just an act of aggression against Shoaib Shaheen alone.
The committee labeled Fawad as ‘coward, fugitive and political traitor’ who had ‘stabbed the PTI’s political struggle for constitutional restoration, rule of law, and democracy in the back before sneaking away through the backdoor’. The statement said Fawad’s outburst was driven by frustration over the PTI’s decision to sever all ties with him on the instructions of the party founder Imran Khan. The forum asserted that he had no authority to present himself as a PTI representative on any forum.
In reaction, Fawad strongly criticised the PTI political committee, calling it ‘worthless’. In a post on ‘X’, he said the PTI’s political committee remained silent on the treatment meted out to Imran in jail, yet it suddenly remembered to pass resolutions on an insignificant ‘clerk’. He accused the committee members of being individuals who never spent a single day in jail, misappropriated millions in party funds, and refused to provide financial accountability. “Those who are not worth even two pennies should be held accountable for the party’s funding,” he charged.
