HYDERABAD: Three-day celebrations of the 773rd Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) commenced with acting Sindh governor Syed Owais Qadir Shah laying a chadar at the shrine and offering Fateha.
Sindh Minister for Auqaf Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, Secretary Auqaf Sibghatullah Mehr, and Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Bilal Ahmed Memon were also present. Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri presented a commemorative shield to the acting governor.
The acting governor distributed clothes and gifts among poor and deserving women. Talking to the media, Owais Shah said that prayers were offered for the country, nation, and Sindh. He emphasized that Sindh’s progress is crucial for the country’s development.
He expressed hope for a successful and peaceful conclusion of the Urs celebrations. Compared to last year, the number of devotees has increased, he added. He appealed to the prime minister to convene a meeting of the Council of Common Interests within 90 days, as per the Constitution. He also announced plans to write to the chairman of the National Highway Authority regarding the delayed construction of the Indus Highway. The Sindh government is actively raising its voice for public issues at every level, Shah asserted.
