HYDERABAAD: Police have claimed solving the murder case of renowned Sindhi poet and writer Allah Dino aka Akash Ansari. Hyderabad SSP Farrukh Ali Lanjar, while holding a press conference on the important case on Monday after resuming charge, said Dr Akash’s foster son, Shah Latif, is the killer who brutally killed his father and escaped from the house.
After staying with an acquaintance for several hours, Shah Latif returned home and set fire to the body to hide the evidence to make it appear that the death was caused by a short-circuit fire, he added. SSP Lanjar said that on the identification of the accused, the knife used for the murder was also recovered and he confessed to the crime. In the investigation so far, the accused has said that he committed the murder alone, the reason for which was not the acquisition of wealth, but his grudge against his father, who repeatedly humiliated him.
According to the SSP, the accused is addicted to drugs, Akash Ansari was killed with a sharp knife and then set on fire. After the murder, Shah Latif’s feet were burnt, but he did not even enter the room.
The SSP said that the preliminary medical report revealed that Akash Ansari was first killed and then his body was set on fire to destroy the evidence. He said the victim’s throat was slit and he was stabbed 10 times.
The FIR of Akash Ansari’s murder was registered at the Bhittai Nagar police station by his son-in-law Ibrahim alias Jaan Muhammad Ansari. The charges of murder, money theft and spreading terrorism have been added to the FIR, while it has also been stated that the accused had disagreements with Akash Ansari over property and he often threatened to kill him.
