Laptops given to talented students

FAISALABAD: The Government College University, Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission Wednesday gave 2,770 laptops to talented students of the university in the second phase while only 236 laptops were given to qualifying students of the MPhil and PhD disciplines.
In this regard, addressing a function at the GC University Campus as a guest of honour Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali said the USA had allocated $420 billion for the promotion of education but in Pakistan this ratio was only a half billion dollars. He called for adequate funds for the promotion of education in Pakistan. Zeeshan Ahmad, Representative HEC, Dr Nadeem Sohail, Director, Students Affairs GC University, Dr Humayun Abbas, Dr Muhammad Zubair, Dr Farhat Abbas and Dean Haq Nawaz were also distinguished guests on the occasion.
SHOS ASKED TO BE DILIGENT: CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar Wednesday asked SHOs to discharge duty diligently and with utmost dedication.
The CPO warned stern action against the police officers who are oblivious to their duty. The CPO transferred SHO Sandal Bar Police Station and posted him SHO Khurrianwala and Abdul Majeed was posted as new SHO at Rodala Road Police Station and Ali Imran was posted as SHO Sandal Bar Police Station.

Widow with relatives stages demo

FAISALABAD: A widow along with her relatives staged a demonstration against occupation of her house at Chak 16/JB.
Nusrat Bibi, a widow, alleged that Sajid and others occupied her house with the support of ASI Tariq and Constable Muhammad Yar.
The protesters said that the accused tortured the widow and other house inmates when they resisted occupation. They said that though police registered a case but they were hesitating to arrest the accused. They appealed to the CPO to provide justice to the widow.
THREE KILLED IN DIFFERENT INCIDENTS: Three people were killed in different incidents here on Wednesday.
In the first incident, Usman Akbar, a resident of Sir Syed Town, was killed while his friend Khalil Saeed injured when their motorcycle struck against a footpath at Tariqabad Bridge. The injured man was shifted to the Civil Hospital. In the second incident, two labourers Asif and Adeel were working in a factory on Faisalabad-Sargodha Road when they received electric shocks. As a result, Asif died on the spot while Adeel was injured. The injured labourer was shifted to the Allied Hospital in a critical condition.
In the third incident, Muhammad Muslim was injured seriously after falling from the roof of his house in Khushab. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital where he died.
