Uzbekistan displays goods at Lahore Expo, boosting trade ties
KARACHI: Uzbekistan launched its first single-country exhibition in Pakistan, exhibiting a range of products from textiles to IT as the two nations seek to bolster trade.
The ‘Made in Uzbekistan’ exhibition, running through February 13 at the Expo Centre in Lahore, features over 120 Uzbek businesses, according to a statement. The event follows a ‘Made in Pakistan’ exhibition held in Tashkent last year.
Uzbek Deputy Minister for Industry, Investment & Trade Khurram Teshbaev and Chief Executive of Pakistan’s Trade Development Authority (TDAP) Faiz Ahmad Chadhar inaugurated the event. Representatives from Tajikistan and Azerbaijan also attended.
The exhibition underscores growing economic ties between the two countries, which have signed both a transit trade agreement and a preferential trade agreement. Pakistan aims to boost bilateral trade with Uzbekistan to $1 billion within three years, according to the statement. The event offers a platform for business-to-business networking and potential investment opportunities across sectors including machinery, agriculture and construction.
