Tessori not going anywhere, says Khalid Maqbool
Several workers of MQM-P had shouted slogans against Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori during protest
KARACHI: Reacting to Saturday’s protest of some workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) at the party’s Bahadurabad headquarters, MQM-P head Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has stated that the party will proceed against those workers who violated discipline under the party’s constitution.
Several workers of the MQM-P had shouted slogans against Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori during the protest. Reacting to this, Dr Siddiqui said Tessori had been nominated by the MQM-P as the governor and he was going nowhere. He asserted that he and his party had full confidence in Tessori.
The MQM-P chief added that it was not a true perception that his party was being run from the Governor House.
Following the workers’ protest, MQM-P leaders Mustafa Kamal and Anis Kaimkhani, who had formerly created the Pak Sarzameen Party in a bid to weaken the MQM-P’s base in the city but later joined the MQM-P, have reportedly left the central WhatsApp group of the party leadership.
Following this, Dr Siddiqui had to issue a strict statement against the protesting workers of the party.
Meanwhile, former Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar, who has not been on the forefront of the MQM-P’s politics for a long time, has issued a clarification stating that he has not met any party leader.
In a statement, he said he just attended the funeral prayers of an MQM worker where he met some colleagues. He said no other impression should be taken of his incident.
