ATC allows Bushra to meet Imran after she refuses to join probe
Police presented Bushra Bibi in court in 31 cases registered against her after November 26 Islamabad protest
RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Saturday ordered the authorities to allow Bushra Bibi to meet Imran Khan in Adiala jail after she refused to respond to police questioning regarding cases related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protests, stating she would only do so after consulting her husband and lawyer.
Later, police presented Bushra Bibi in the court of Amjad Ali Shah in 31 cases registered against her after November 26 Islamabad protest. She told the court that she would like to meet Imran Khan and her counsel Salman Safdar before joining the investigation.
She said she could join the investigation even today if she was allowed to meet her husband. She also submitted an application demanding that she should be investigated in the presence of PTI founder.
The court, in line with SOPs, directed the authorities concerned to allow Bushra Bibi to meet Imran Khan in jail and adjourned the hearing till March 7.
Police teams had arrived at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, where Bushra Bibi is currently held, to include her in the investigation.
The team of investigative officers, including Inspectors Afzal, Yaqub Shah, Rashid Kiyani, and others, questioned Bushra Bibi in the administrative block of the jail. However, Bushra Bibi made it clear that she would not respond to the police inquiry until she consults her husband, Imran Khan, and her lawyer, Salman Safdar. She stated that she required approval from them before she could provide a formal statement.
