Differences have emerged within the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leadership and workers over the distribution of political responsibilities and positions in the party.
Party workers reached the MQM-P office in Bahadurabad on Saturday and protested vehemently after several leaders were not given responsibilities in the party.
A video that went viral on social media showed MQM-P workers protesting and shouting slogans against the Sindh governor. The protesting workers said the party responsibilities were distributed among leaders without due consultation.
Central leaders of the MQM-P were not present at the Bahadurabad office when the protest took place. The unhappy workers dispersed after recording their protest.
The MQM-P has not yet issued a statement on the incident.
Speaking to Geo News regarding party differences before the incident, MQM-P central leader Dr Farooq Sattar said he did not know how and who launched a campaign on social media to declare the party circular fake.
He said that some members of the central committee did not agree with the circular on the WhatsApp group, and the reservations should be discussed within the party.
