Implementation of UN resolution on Kashmir mandatory
LAHORE:Punjab University Human Rights Chair took out a rally from the School of Communication Studies to the Institute of Business and Information Technology to express solidarity with Kashmiris here on Thursday. All departments of the School of Communication Studies participated in the rally organised under the leadership of Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, Head of the Human Rights Chair and School of Communication Studies.
On this occasion, Chairperson of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising Dr Faiza Latif, faculty members and students were present.
In her address, Dr Abida Ashraf said that Kashmir was like a prison under Indian occupation. She said that the constitutional rights of the people have been taken away along with their human rights in occupied Kashmir. She said that the Kashmir issue was not an internal but an international issue. She said that occupied Kashmir was one of the most militarised regions in the world. She said that the implementation of UN resolutions on the Kashmir issue is mandatory. She said that the UN seems to be silent on the violations of minority rights in occupied Kashmir. Dr Faiza Latif said that peace cannot be established in the world without establishing peace in Kashmir. Later, a discussion was also held in the Faiz Ahmad Faiz seminar room in which speakers highlighted various aspects of the Kashmir issue.
