KARACHI: The PHF has managed to persuade mainstream news organisations to own six teams in the first-ever Hockey-5 championship scheduled to be held in Lahore from mid of Ramazan.
The teams are named after major cities of the country: Islamabad Fighters, Karachi Sharks, Lahore Lions, Peshawar Panthers, Quetta Warriors and Faisalabad Falcons, ‘The News’ learnt on Tuesday.
OGDCL is the title sponsor of championship, a source in the PHF said.
He added that leading print and electronic media organisations would own the teams and help in extensive coverage of the championship.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that PHF would unveil the logo of Hockey-5 at a press conference in Lahore on Thursday.
The PHF would announce the details about the Hockey-5 championship, including its prize money, names of the players and coaches of each team.
The PHF officials declined to name which team is owned by which organisation.
Sources also confirmed that for the first time all participating teams would be given prize money.
