NEW YORK: American immigration authorities have arrested 205 illegal Indian immigrants and deported them to India by an US Army C-17 aircraft.
According to an estimate, there are about 725,000 illegal Indian immigrants in the United States. According to reports, the American military plane will stop on the way and reach Amritsar because a majority of the people being deported in the plane belong to Indian Punjab. More than 10,000 illegal immigrants have been deported through several flights to Latin American countries. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has discussed this issue with his Indian counterpart Jaishankar. Most of the deportees are Indian Sikhs, including supporters of Khalistan, who may be subjected to investigations and other abuses by the Modi government upon their return.
