Mardan district nazim, others booked for manhandling official
MARDAN: The police have registered a case against several elected representatives of local government, including district nazim, for allegedly manhandling the assistant director of the Local Government and Rural Development.
Sources added that Assistant Director Fazlullah submitted an application with the Saddar Police Station, accusing District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar of making threats against him. He said in his application that District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar told him in a phone call that he had issued an execute order to open the office of neighborhood council, Bagh-e-Ram. He alleged the district nazim used harsh words while talking to him on the phone.
The official said that later he was attending a meeting at his office when Himayatullah Mayar along with neighborhood council, Bagh-e-Ram, naib nazim Syed Murtaza Shah Bacha, general councillors Akhtar Zaman, Inamullah, Qadir Khan and others reached there. He alleged that they made threats against him and roughed him up.
The police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law. It may be noted that the Awami National Party formed the district government in Mardan as it won several seats in the local government election that were held on May 31, 2015.
