Ex-candidate seeks detail about search process for IUB VC

LAHORE:Professor Emeritus Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, who was one of the candidates for the position of Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB), has approached the Chief Information Commissioner Punjab for the provision of the information and relevant documents from Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab, related to search process conducted for Vice Chancellor IUB in 2024.

According to details, Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has filed a petition with the Punjab Information Commission and HED Punjab under “Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2013,” seeking the indulgence of the chief information watchdog for Punjab.

The information and documents demanded by Prof Dr Khan, under RTI, include, para-wise comments and annotated reply by the HED Punjab to the Writ Petition No 73010/2024, Criteria for selection of VC, IUB, List of the eligible candidates, short-listed for interviews, after scrutiny of applications, Award sheet showing the Academic / Professional Marks allocated to the petitioner, Award sheet showing the Interview Marks awarded to the petitioner, in the panel of three (3), recommended by the VC Search Committee, IUB, Consolidated Award List (Merit List) after interviews, Names of Top Three (3) Candidates, finalised on merit and recommended to the Government of Punjab, HED, Minutes of the Meeting (s) VC Search Committee, IUB, Summary prepared by the Secretary, HED and forwarded to the Chief Minister Punjab, Minutes of Meeting / Interview Meeting, conducted by the CM Punjab on September 2, 2024, the Summary prepared by the Secretary, HED Punjab as Secretary, VC Search Committee IUB, Summary sent to the Governor Punjab / Chancellor IUB as required under Section 14(6) of Islamia University Act, 1975 and any other document or relevant information of the Government of Punjab, HED, VC Search Committee, HED, CM Secretariat, the Governor’s Secretariat Governor House Chancellor, IUB etc., relevant to the search process during the selection of the Vice Chancellor, IUB, in August-September, 2024. The petitioner has also requested the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the HED Punjab to help ensure the provision of information and documents.
