The body of a shopkeeper of the Saddar mobile market was found at Sea View on Sunday. The deceased had been missing from Landhi since January 29, with his family and fellow shopkeepers suspecting he was murdered.
The Sahil police found a body trapped among the rocks near the Kinara Hotel. The deceased was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was identified as Asif Kamal, 50.
Police said the man had been a resident of Landhi No. 6 and a father of three, and had owned an accessories shop in the Saddar mobile market. His mobile phone and motorbike are still missing, they added.
The man’s brother Tariq had registered FIR No. 72/25 under sections 365/34 at the Landhi police station. Kamal’s family and representatives of the Saddar mobile market said the man had no known enemies, but they believed he was kidnapped and murdered.
The last location of his mobile phone was traced to Ibrahim Hyderi. Police are retrieving his call detail record to analyse his last calls and other evidence. The cause of death will be clarified after the release of the post-mortem examination report. After completing the legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family. The man’s funeral prayers were offered after the Asr prayers.
