LAHORE : Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Chairman Ghazali Saleem Butt said that the ‘Lungs of Lahore’ project is aligned with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and it will play a significant role in reducing air pollution.
He said this during his visit to ‘Lungs of Lahore’ project being established on the bank of river
Ravi here on Saturday.
Parks and Horticulture Authority chairman took a detailed review of the tree plantation efforts going at the ‘Lungs of Lahore’ project.
He inspected the trees and plants planted so far across 800 acres on both sides of the Ravi River.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghazali Saleem Butt said that the ongoing plantation of indigenous trees of Punjab was a welcome development. He remarked that the Parks and Horticulture Authority was planting fast-growing trees suited to Punjab's climate, which will soon flourish.
In the coming years, the trees planted as part of this initiative will transform the area into a dense, forest-like landscape, he added.
The PHA chairman emphasised that in line with the vision of the Punjab government, efforts will continue to expand tree plantation across the city to provide a green cover for Lahore’s boundaries.
