Islamabad:Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, presided over a meeting at the CDA Headquarters on Friday to review the progress of the Blue Area Parking Plaza and the Art and Craft Village projects.

The meeting was attended by CDA Board Members and other senior CDA officers. During the briefing, it was highlighted that the structural work of the Blue Area Parking Plaza has been completed. The installation of lifts is currently underway. The plaza comprises two basements, a ground floor, and five additional floors. In the first phase, 26 out 64 shops in the plaza will be auctioned. Design plans for an open-air rooftop restaurant and café were also presented.

CDA chairman emphasised the need to expedite the finishing work, including the installation of lifts and electrical systems. He also directed to effectively utilize the plaza's space to maximize revenue generation. Regarding the Art and Craft Village, it was briefed that it spans 21 acres in a prime location of Islamabad. The Art and Craft village will feature restaurants, studios, and art and craft workshop area. Additional facilities include an expo hall, tourism and craft stalls, an amphitheatre, and a cinema.

CDA chairman directed the inclusion of cycling tracks and jogging areas in the Art and Craft village's design and called for the prompt completion of its road infrastructure. He urged that the remaining construction work be prioritized to ensure timely completion. These initiatives reflect CDA's commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and promoting cultural activities in Islamabad.
