LAHORE:Police officers conducting a routine check in Mughalpura allegedly stole cash worth Rs130,000 from a paan shop, the shopkeeper claimed on Friday.
According to the complainant, the officers initially returned Rs55,000 but took the remaining Rs75,000 and several cigarette packs to the police station. He further stated that CCTV footage captured the officers conducting the inspection inside his shop. The affected shopkeeper has filed a formal complaint with CCPO, requesting the return of his money and departmental action against the involved personnel. The CCPO ordered probe and the IAB officials assured that if the officers are found guilty, strict action will be taken against them.
Newborn found
A newborn girl was discovered abandoned inside a plastic bag at an under-construction house near Gajjumata Chowk on LDA Road, officials confirmed. According to Rescue 1122, local residents heard the infant crying from within a sealed bag and alerted emergency services and the police. Responders arrived at the scene and transported the baby to Children’s Hospital, where doctors reported that she was in stable condition. Police have registered a case. Meanwhile, after a direction from the chief minister, Child Protection Bureau has taken custody of the baby.
