‘Biker lane to be functional in a few days’

LAHORE : LDA Vice Chairman Mian Marghub Ahmed said that the biker lane constructed on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will be opened in the next few days. He said a positive change will be brought about by the 10-kilometer biker lane on both sides of Ferozepur Road.

LDA Vice Chairman said this during his visit to the biker lane project on Ferozepur Road here on Thursday.

LDA DG Tahir Farooq briefed him about the remaining work of the biker lane. He said the biker lanes have also been constructed on Kalma Chowk Flyover and Abdul Sattar Edhi Underpass. “Construction of the biker lane will significantly reduce accidents and will improve traffic flow,” LDA DG claimed while giving a briefing to the LDA’s VC.

Later, LDA Vice Chairman and DG also visited Main Boulevard Gulberg and Liberty Chowk. On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Main Boulevard Gulberg was being made a model road, LDA DG said adding the LDA teams were removing debris and other encroachments from commercial properties and under-construction properties around the Main Boulevard.

LDA DG said the enforcement of parking rules around the Main Boulevard will also be ensured. The asphalting of the road from Liberty Chowk to Gaddafi Stadium has been completed and the work on service lanes and footpaths was progressing rapidly, he said.

Chief Engineer LDA, Chief Engineer Tepa, MD Wasa, Chief Town Planner One and relevant officers were present on the occasion.

Later, the LDA Vice Chairman also reviewed the ongoing works in B-3 Block Gulberg. Development work was underway in B-3 Block Gulberg under the Sustainable Development Model.

In B-3 Block, the work of undergrounding of services, uniform green belts and construction and repair of roads was progressing rapidly, he added.
