Five cops suspended for extorting money from citizen
LAHORE : Five police officials in Lahore’s Qila Gujjar Singh area have been suspended for allegedly extorting money from a citizen during a routine checking.
According to police sources, the suspended officers - Head Constables Hassan, Shakeel, and Tahir, along with Constables Tajammul and Imran - were found guilty of misconduct during an internal inquiry.
The incident came to light when a citizen reported the alleged extortion via the police helpline 15, stating that officers had taken Rs1,000 from him during a routine check. Following the complaint, the accused officers allegedly coerced the complainant into giving a false statement and signing an apology letter to cover up their actions.
However, a departmental inquiry confirmed their involvement in the incident, leading to their immediate suspension.
