LAHORE : A notorious criminal involved in 106 cases of heinous crimes was shot dead by his own accomplices during an exchange of fire with police.
The deceased, identified as Sajid alias Chitta, was being taken by the Organized Crime Unit, Model Town, to Nishtar Colony for the recovery of looted items and weapons when his accomplices ambushed the police in an attempt to rescue him. During the crossfire, Sajid was fatally shot by his own associates. The attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the fugitives. The body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
Rs3m approved for cops’ treatment
IG Punjab has approved Rs3 million for the medical treatment of police employees and their families.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Zulfiqar Haider, the widow of Constable Abdul Waheed, Constable Sharyar and Constable Wasim Ahmed, Inspector Ghulam Rasool, retired driver Constable M Feroze, Inspectors Babar Ali, Akbar Hussain, Constable Hafiz M Ali, Junior Clerk Waqas Muhammad, Constable Hamid Ali, retired Head Constable Aftab Ahmad, ASI M Ali, Constable Zain Aslam, Constable Amir Alam, Sanitary Worker Irfan Masih, ASI M Yaseen, Constable Javed Iqbal, Senior Clerk M Hafeez, the wife of martyr Constable M Anwar, Constable Afraz Khan, Sanitary Worker M Asif, ASIs Adil Ahmad, M Jamshed, Head Constable Zahir Badshah.
