PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday dismissed the protective bail plea of former Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) contractor Syed Masood Hussain Shah, who is wanted to the National Accountability Bureau, Lahore.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Ijaz Anwar heard the case. The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that his client was arriving at Peshawar Airport from London today and was wanted by NAB Lahore in connection with the Orange Train project. He prayed the court to grant protective bail to the petitioner to seek relief from the relevant court without fear of immediate arrest.
However, NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Ali opposed the plea and argued that the petitioner had twice previously obtained similar relief from the PHC but failed to comply with court orders and misused the granted relief. He pleaded that the petitioner should approach the Lahore High Court as the LDA case falls under its jurisdiction. After arguments, the court rejected the protective bail plea.
