Over Rs18m MVR tax collected during campaign in Sindh since Jan 1

On directives from Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chwala, the excise and taxation department has collected Rs18.909 million in terms of the MVR tax, including fines, and checked 29,923 vehicles during a campaign.

Officials said that on the instructions of the provincial minister Chawla, the department’s road checking campaign is underway across the province. According to the statistics issued by the spokesperson for the Excise and Taxation Department, a total of 29,923 vehicles have been checked since January 1, 2025, from which Rs18.909 million have collected in terms of the motor vehicle registration tax, including fines, across the province.

According to the data, 5,970 vehicles were checked in Mirpurkhas division and Rs5.571 million were collected, 8,620 vehicles were checked in Hyderabad division and Rs3.947 million in the MVR tax were collected, 2,607 vehicles were checked in Larkana division and Rs2.259 million were collected, 4314 vehicles were checked in Sukkur division and Rs2.528 million were collected, 3,052 vehicles were checked in Shaheed Benazirabad division and Rs1.985 million were collected, while more than Rs1.092 million in motor vehicle tax were collected during the checking of 5,360 vehicles in Karachi division.
