Syed Abidi lauds NUTECH’s mission of empowering youth
LAHORE : Renowned educationist and career counselor Syed Azhar Husnain Abidi (TI) recently visited the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad, where he delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the transformative role of engineering and technology in reshaping the global job market.
His visit emphasised the importance of aligning education with the evolving demands of the global economy and highlighted the emerging degrees and skills essential for students to secure opportunities to study and work abroad.
Established in 2015, NUTECH was conceived to address Pakistan’s economic challenges and the pressing need for high-quality, skilled human resources in applied sciences, engineering, and technology. The institution has since emerged as a beacon of innovation, fostering a robust science, engineering, and skills framework to prepare Pakistan’s youth as future industry leaders. By integrating applied education, research, and skill development, NUTECH aims to transform Pakistan’s industries into Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and maximise value addition in industrial products through high-end technology and innovation. Upon his arrival, Syed Abidi was warmly received by Brigadier Salman Zafar, Director of Industrial Collaboration, and introduced to Rector Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz. During an extensive tour of NUTECH’s state-of-the-art facilities, Syed Abidi expressed his admiration for the rector’s visionary leadership in establishing the university as a centre of excellence. He commended the institution’s impressive infrastructure, advanced training programmes, and its unwavering commitment to producing next-generation engineers, technologists, and skilled professionals. NUTECH’s international collaborations with organisations like City & Guilds UK were praised by Syed Abidi for significantly enhancing its graduates’ global employability. Notably, NUTECH holds a valid Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) licence authorised by the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BEOE). This licence, empowers the university to connect its alumni with international employers, creating pathways for overseas employment opportunities. Through its Overseas Employment Promoter programme, NUTECH is bridging the gap between education and global employment, enabling its highly skilled graduates to secure job opportunities in countries facing labor shortages. Additionally, NUTECH offers internationally recognised certifications and courses, further elevating its students' competencies to meet global standards.
Syed Abidi highlighted that numerous batches of NUTECH-trained professionals have already secured skilled positions abroad, with more in training to follow their success. NUTECH’s unique approach to applied research and technology-driven solutions has positioned it as a strategic partner for national and international industries. Its integration of academia, industry, and government through a triple-helix model promotes sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The university’s programmes emphasise “Outside Classroom” learning opportunities, industrial leadership training, and technology-focused research groups, ensuring that students are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but also practical expertise. During his visit, Syed Abidi assured NUTECH of his unwavering support in connecting the institution with high-ranking universities worldwide through his extensive network.
He also offered his free career counseling services to students and faculty, underscoring his dedication to advancing Pakistan’s educational and technological landscape. In his address, Syed Abidi lauded NUTECH’s mission of transforming academic knowledge into industrial wealth. He praised the university’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and its vision for empowering Pakistan’s youth to become global leaders in engineering and technology. NUTECH continues to play a pivotal role in nation-building by producing technologically advanced and professionally capable human resources. Under the visionary leadership of Rector Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz, the institution has set a benchmark for excellence in education, research, and skill development.
It remains a symbol of hope and progress, bridging the gap between academia, industry, and government, while preparing Pakistan’s workforce to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape. Syed Abidi’s visit reaffirmed NUTECH’s status as a transformative institution, dedicated to driving innovation, fostering global collaborations, and equipping Pakistan’s youth with the tools they need to excel on the world stage.
