LAHORE:Punjab Police have initiated preparations for the Intermediate Class Course, a prerequisite for promotion to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).
Acting on the directives of Inspector General Usman Anwar, the department has sought detailed reports regarding eligible candidates across all regions. According to an official notification issued by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Training, regional police officers (RPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) have been directed to compile and submit data at the earliest. The notification specifically asks for the following information: The number of confirmed head constables awaiting the Intermediate Class Course.
A list of officers who have already qualified for the course included details of C-I head constables aged between 50 and 55 years, approved, posted, and vacant ASI positions in all regions. Sources within the Punjab Police reveal that the move aims to streamline the promotion process and address manpower shortages at the ASI level. The directive reflects the IG’s emphasis on merit-based promotions and professional development for junior ranks. The initiative is expected to boost morale within the force, providing eligible officers with a clear pathway for career advancement.
