ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar Thursday said no prisoner in Pakistan enjoyed the facilities being provided to the PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. Tarar said this while replying to a question of Syed Rafiullah during the Question-Hour in the National Assembly.
The minister said the facilities, equal to a presidential suite, comprised a bicycle, exercise room, kitchen and walking gallery.
He said the PTI time and again moved courts to get more facilities for its founder.
“On the contrary, Khawaja Muhammad Asif was denied a blanket and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was refused a fan during the scorching heat and a heater during the winter season on the directions of PTI founder, when he was in power,” Tarar said.
He said a cell of 10/6 was allotted to Maryam Nawaz Sharif in prison but the PMLN leadership bravely endured the atrocities.
Responding to a question with regard to the province-wise record of undertrials and pending appeals, the Ministry of Human Rights stated that there were a total of 81,398 undertrials and 10,658 appeals were pending adjudication.
There are 49,288 undertrial prisoners in Punjab and 7,082 appeals are pending adjudication, while there are 11,073 undertrials in KP and 1,184 appeals are pending adjudication.
Similarly, there are 19,325 undertrials in Sindh and 2,340 appeals are pending adjudication, while in Balochistan, there are 1,712 undertrials and 52 appeals are pending adjudication.
