Operation continues: Hideouts of miscreants pounded in Kurram

PARACHINAR/HANGU: Security forces, backed by gunship helicopters, pounded suspected hideouts of miscreants in various areas of Lower Kurram on the second day of the targeted operation launched in the troubled parts of the tribal district.

The gunship helicopters targeted hideouts in Bagan, Charkhel, Pushta Vani, and other areas.According to district administration officials, the operation in Lower Kurram aimed to drive out miscreants and secure the roads leading to Parachinar.

The gunship helicopters also targeted miscreant hideouts in the Zardana area of central Kurram.Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the perpetrators of the recent attack on a convoy carrying food and essential supplies to Parachinar.

The case was registered on the complaint of Station House Officer Abdul Qadir against 20 suspects.The FIR stated that suspects armed with heavy weapons opened fire on the convoy, resulting in the martyrdom of two security personnel and injuries to five others.

Following the attack, the miscreants looted vehicles and set them on fire. Eight drivers were abducted during the assault.It is worth mentioning here that the roads have remained closed for over three and a half months, leading to a severe depletion of essential supplies such as food, fuel, and medicines, and causing immense suffering for the residents.

In another development, Kohat Division Commissioner Syed Mutasim Billah Shah, along with Hangu Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajjad Hussain, Deputy Inspector General of Kohat Region Abbas Majeed Marwat, and District Police Officer Khalid Khan visited the camp established for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of Kurram in the Hangu district.

The officials stated that the purpose of the visit was to identify areas for improvement and ensure that TDPs receive adequate support and resources.The commissioner reviewed relief activities, government initiatives, the overall situation, and the facilities provided to the TDPs.

He inspected infrastructure, medical facilities, maintenance services, food supplies, and security arrangements at the camp.The senior officer directed the relevant authorities to ensure the provision of all basic amenities, including health services, education, and clean drinking water, to the TDPs.
