Gang involved in drug smuggling busted
LAHORE:Lahore Police continue their operations to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities. According to details, the Burki Police, under the leadership of SDPO Burki Ghulam Dastgir Khan, conducted a major operation and arrested a three-member gang involved in drug smuggling via drones. The arrested suspects, identified as Usman, Tariq, and Waseem, were found with over 6.5 kilograms of heroin worth millions, along with drones, batteries, and other equipment. The suspects confessed to sourcing drugs online from Peshawar and distributing them to various districts.
Similarly, Garhi Shahu Police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a large drug shipment and arrested a four-member gang. The suspects were caught with over 5 kilograms of hashish worth millions. The suspects opened fire at the police team upon sight, injuring one police officer, while one of the suspects was injured by his accomplice’s bullet. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Dolphin Squad arrested a professional drug dealer in the Township area. The suspect, Irfan, was caught red-handed with 500 grams of hashish and 120 grams of ice. Gulshan Ravi Police apprehended two members of the “Dacoit and Snatcher Gang,” identified as Binyameen and Haider Ali.
Using CCTV footage and modern technology, police recovered mobile phones, jewelry, laptops, ladies’ purses, cash, a 30-bore pistol with bullets, and a motorcycle stolen from Islampura. The suspects had a criminal history with over 50 cases registered against them. Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate Police arrested a four-member battery theft gang. The suspects, Rizwan, Ali Raza, M Ali, and Moazzam, were found with 19 batteries, three rickshaws, and tools used for theft.
