LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed a first information report (FIR) against PTI leader Shahbaz Gill and journalist Moeed Pirzada, both living abroad, under Cyber Crime Inquiry No RE 56-2025 and RE 57-2025, accusing them of propagating anti-state content through social media platforms.
According to the FIR, the two individuals stand accused of disseminating threatening content targeting state officials and allegedly inciting them to rebellion. The text highlights their alleged involvement in orchestrating anti-state propaganda, including baseless allegations of bribery against key state figures and institutions.
The document identifies Shahbaz Gill, son of Nazir Ahmed, and Moeed Pirzada, son of Pirzada Ghulam Mohiuddin, as using social media accounts to undermine the credibility of Pakistan’s institutions. The FIR alleges that the duo, operating from abroad, persistently engaged in propaganda that harmed the reputation of state entities.
The case cites violations of Sections 9, 10, and 11 under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) 2016, which pertain to cyber terrorism, hate speech and defamation. Law-enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to apprehend the accused.
