Three Karachi youths abducted by Ghotki dacoits
Dacoits of Ghotki’s Kutcha area have abducted three youths of Karachi, including two brothers, for ransom. The Sindh government has taken notice of the abductions and assured the families of safe return of the abducted people.
The dacoits have demanded a ransom amount of Rs6 million for the release of the three youths, i.e. Rs2 million each victim. The robbers have sent a video of the three chained Karachiites to their families on WhatsApp, in which they can be heard pleading for money for their release.
The three youths are the residents of Rizvia Society Wahidabad in District Central. They were kidnapped by robbers from Ghotki by deception.
The three work as online dry-clean workers. The Rizvia Society police registered a case on a complaint of the abducted brothers' uncle Noman and the case was later handed over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell Police.
Noman said in his complaint that he is a rickshaw driver, and his nephew 24-year-old Owais, his nephew’s younger brother and a friend, 20-year-old Anas, have created a Facebook page under the name ‘Perfect Choice’ and do dry-cleaning work, in which they clean houses, wash sofas and carpets, etc.
He added that on January 2, Owais was booked for an online sofa and carpet cleaning job from Ghotki, Sindh. Owais discussed this with his mother. On the same date, my two nephews and their friend took a bus to Ghotki at around 2:30am and left. As soon as his nephew and his friend reached Ghotki, Owais contacted his mother on his mobile phone and said these people do not seem well to me, to which his mother consoled him and after some time both of Owais's phone numbers were switched off.
Later, on January 3 at 4pm, Owais contacted him on his mobile phone and told him that these are dacoits and one of them is demanding Rs2 million and the other Rs6 million. Meanwhile, an unknown person called Owais and told him to arrange Rs6 million. According to the plaintiff, this person gave him 2 days' time. After that the unknown person made a video of Owais, his brother and friend and sent it through WhatsApp from Owais's mobile phone number, in which the legs of the three victims can been seen tied with chains and the three can be heard requested that the money be arranged or else these people will kill them.
Afterwards, a mobile phone number was called from Owais's mobile phone number. The number was received and it was said to load the balance on this number. According to the plaintiff, an unknown person has given the time for Sunday and Monday, which made us very nervous, after which I came to the police station along with Owais's father and Anas's sister.
“My claim is that the accused or accused persons, whose names and residence are unknown, kidnapped my two nephews and their friend on the pretext of cleaning the sofa and carpet, called them to Ghotki, Sindh, and demanded ransom. Therefore, legal action should be taken against the accused,” Noman said.
On this, Rizvia police registered a case under Section 365A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Noman and handed it over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell Police for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a Sindh government spokesperson has vowed immediate action. The government has taken notice of the abduction of three young men from Karachi in Ghotki. According to initial reports, criminals from the Kutcha area lured the youths all the way from Karachi to Ghotki and then kidnapped them for ransom.
Sindh government spokesperson Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani strongly condemned the incident, stating that the government is taking this matter very seriously. He assured the families that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly for the recovery of abductees and to arrest the kidnappers as soon as possible.
Ghotki and Kashmore police are jointly working on the case, he stated and emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the government’s top priority. He promised that efforts will continue until the abducted youths are safely reunited with their families.
