KP reports another polio case
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported another polio case on Wednesday, making a total of 72 cases in 2024 in the country.
According to the Health Department, the new polio case was reported in Dera Ismail Khan.
A 20-month-old baby girl was diagnosed with the poliovirus. As per the history from the parents, the child developed high-grade fever on December 28, 2024 and was taken to a health care provider on December 30.
On December 31, the mother noticed weakness in the left upper limb and neck muscles.
As per her history, the child was taken to the same health care provider on January 1, 2025 who notified the case as AFP.
As the case belongs to an area of concern (security compromised) hence contact samples collected from three contacts-C1: 26-month-old girl, C2: 45-month-old girl and C3: 48-month-old brother.No travel history of the family or index.
