Cop martyred in DI Khan firing
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A police head-constable was martyred when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him on Dera Dayal Road on Wednesday.
According to police, Head-constable Arshad Baloch, a resident of Basti Mehr, was on his motorcycle returning home after dropping his children at school. They said that when he reached near Bungalow Pervez Khan Gandapur on Dayal Road in the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station, unidentified bike riders opened fire on him.
As a result, he sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his wounds.
The martyred head-constable was performing duty at the Shorkot Police Station. The funeral prayer for the deceased was offered at Ijaz Shaheed Police Lines, which was attended by District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada and several other police officers and personnel.
Later, the deceased was laid to rest with state honours in his ancestral graveyard.
