The recent news of 107 Pakistanis having been deported last week from 12 countries underscores a disconcerting trend that warrants urgent attention. According to available data, thousands of Pakistanis have been deported last year from various regions. This phenomenon highlights systemic shortcomings within Pakistan. The desperate migration of thousands signifies the lack of employment opportunities, socio-economic disparities, and inadequate skill development at home. Moreover, fraudulent recruitment agencies and human trafficking networks exploit these vulnerabilities, further exacerbating the problem.
Stringent measures should be taken to regulate recruitment agencies and curb illegal practices and skill development programmes tailored to international labour market demands can enhance the employability of Pakistani workers.
