Tayyab stars with century against Eshaal Associates
KARACHI: Ghani Glass’ Tayyab Tahir smashed his eighth first-class century against Eshaal Associates on the opening day of the second round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I at the Oval Academy Ground, Karachi on Tuesday.
Tayyab’s 139, which came off 179 balls at a healthy strike rate of 78.98, included 20 fours after he walked in to bat at 26-2. Tayyab rebuilt Ghani Glass’ innings with Mohsin Riaz (40, 69b, 5x4s, 1x6) as the duo stitched a 75-run third-wicket partnership.
Skipper Saad Nasim (75, 81b, 9x4s) joined forces with a well-set Tayyab at 101-3 and collected 171 runs for the fourth-wicket stand. Shahbaz Javed’s half-century helped them reach 379 all out in 79.2 overs. For Eshaal Associates Danish Aziz and Nisar Ahmed bagged three wickets each.
At UBL Sports Complex, OGDCL team was bowled out for 197 runs in the first innings against SNGPL. Abdul Rehman Muzammil scored 68 runs. Muhammad Hamza took 4 wickets for 33 runs. Shahzad Gul took three wickets. SNGPL had scored 61 runs at the end of the game and had 2 wickets out.
At NBP NBP Sports Complex, Higher Education team was bowled out for 137 runs in the first innings against KRL. Uzair Mumtaz was the top scorer with 26 runs.
Arshadullah took 5 wickets for 31 runs. It should be remembered that he bowled brilliantly against WAPDA in the previous match and took 11 wickets. KRL scored 99 runs for 4 wickets at the end of the game. Naseerullah scored 52 and Mirza Saad Baig was not out for 23 runs. Muhammad Azab took three wickets.
At the HPC Oval Ground , Ghani Glass’ team was bowled out for 379 in the first innings against Eshal Associates, Tayyab Tahir scored 139 runs with the help of 20 fours. This is his eighth century in first-class cricket. Saad Naseem scored 75 runs, which included 9 fours. Eshal Associates had not scored any runs in the one over batted when the game ended.
