RAWALPINDI: The area of Islamabad International Airport in Attock District has been included in the limits of Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi.

A notification has been issued to include airport runway, main terminal, parking area and five locations of Fateh Jang, District Attock, in the limits of Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi.

Since the New Islamabad International Airport became operational, the issue of jurisdiction was a headache for administration and civil aviation. Almost 75 percent of New Islamabad Airport was located in Qutbal Police Station of Attock district and 25 percent in Nasirabad Police Station of Rawalpindi. After the airport became functional, the name of Qutbal Police Station was changed to New Airport Police Station.

The law enforcement agencies also had concerns, while the airport administration was also worried about who to approach in case of crimes. Earlier, despite several meetings to determine the boundaries the issue could not be solved.

Sources said that the Punjab government approved the inclusion of the area within the limits of New Airport Police Station, Attock district, in Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi, in a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Cabinet on November 21, 2024.

The Punjab Home Department issued a notification on January 3, according to which the runways of Islamabad Airport, ASF Colony, parking area, main terminal and its funnel area of about three kilometers on each side, and five other areas have been brought under the territorial jurisdiction of Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi.
