Islamabad: Two armed criminals on a motorcycle managed to snatch a submachine gun (SMG) from four Dolphin Force personnel during a patrol near the Godaam post on IJ Principal Road in broad daylight on Monday. The Sabzi Mandi police confirmed the incident, which has raised serious concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers and public security.
According to sources, the incident occurred when four armed Dolphin Force officers, riding two motorcycles, were patrolling IJ Principal Road. Two criminals on a bike intercepted the officers, held them at gunpoint, and forced them to surrender an SMG. The suspects then sped away towards Rawalpindi.
Eyewitnesses reported that the officers, despite being armed with pistols and SMGs, did not resist and handed over the weapon to the perpetrators without any confrontation. The Sabzi Mandi police have registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the suspects. Efforts are underway to identify the criminals and recover the stolen weapon.
The brazen nature of the crime, coupled with the lack of resistance from the officers, has drawn attention to the preparedness and training of patrolling forces in the face of such incidents. The authorities have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent such security breaches in the future.
