Huge cache of weapons and drugs seized
Islamabad: The federal capital police have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition seized, with heavy quantity of narcotics during a crackdown on weapons and drugs traffickers, on Saturday, SSP (Operations & Investigation), Arsalan Shahzeb said in a press conference at Tarnol Police Station.
A significant attempt to transport heavy weapons from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad has let down with the arrest of a suspect, the SSP said. Telling details of the recovered weapons and drugs, Arsalan Shahzeb said, 272 pistols of various calibres, 20 modern automatic rifles with magazines, over 23,000 rounds of ammunition.
Additionally, the suspect was found in possession of 150 grams of crystal meth (Ice) 4.45 kilograms of heroin, he added. The SSP claimed that the suspect has a prior criminal record and is involved in eight cases across various districts of Punjab and a case has been registered at Tarnol Police Station, and further investigation is underway. The SSP (Operations) said that the Police are always prepared to counter criminal elements and protecting the lives and property of citizens remains on top concerns.
