ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested former Sindh Education Director Shamsuddin Dal for his alleged role in 10,000 illegal appointments in the education department in exchange of one-time pay-
ment from the aspirants, the sources told The News here on Friday.
"Former Director of Education Shamsuddin Dal has been arrested and he made some startling revelations during the initial probe by the investigation officers of NAB. His arrest may pave the way for more arrests as many other names are likely to be surfaced during the investigation," the sources said.
A senior official confided to this correspondent that when Shamsuddin Dal was the Director of Education around 2,000 vacant employment opportunities were presented to local MNAs and MPAs through the Sindh Department of Education.
"When the NAB officials went through the official record it seemed that there was something fishy in the appointments in the education department because aside from the people who actually went through the process of interviews and filling out the proper paperwork, some 10,000 were given jobs illegally by accepting a hefty one-time payment," the official said.
