PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Energy and Power Tariq Mehmood Sadozai on Thursday said that the construction of Koto Hydropower Project in Lower Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had entered in the final stage and hope it would start production in current year.
“The production of 40.8 megawatts of cheap electricity will start in current year, which will bring an annual income of more than Rs1.7 billion to the province and new employment opportunities will be created,” he said after his visit to the project.
He said the timely completion of the Koto HPP would usher in a new era of development in the province.The Special Assistant asked the field staff that the speed of work on the project must be increased to complete the project as early as possible.
Earlier, Project Director Sultan Rum briefed the CM aide about the project. He said the project faced a slight delay due to various reasons including non-availability of machinery because of Covid-19 emergency.Later on, Special Assistant Tariq Sadozai also inspected Malakand-III Hydropower House where Resident Engineer Fawad Khan briefed him.
