MANSEHRA: The local government representatives on Thursday demanded the government to release development funds.
“Three years have passed since the installation of the local governments, but we are still without development funds and the rights enshrined in the Local Government Act 2013,” Ijaz Ahmad, the chairman of Shergar, told reporters in Oghi.
He urged the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) provincial government to follow their leader Imran Khan’s vision regarding local governments and release the funds.“Our voters expect us to execute civic schemes in their respective areas, but we haven’t been able to launch even a single initiative in the past three years,” Ahmad said.
He added that both the previous and incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf governments had ignored the protests launched by local body representatives demanding funds and rights since the system’s installation in the province.
