Protest sit-in in Mandori: Trucks waiting for entry to Kurram
HANGU: Dozens of essential goods-laden vehicles left from the previous convoy at the Tor Pul point in Thall were still waiting for entry into Kurram tribal district on Thursday.
Also, the sit-in continued in Mandori, the lower part of Kurram district while the main road from Thall to Parachinar remained closed to all kinds of vehicular traffic. Due to the Mandori sit-in, dozens of goods-laden vehicles transporting supplies from Thall in Hangu District to Kurram have been waiting at the Tor Pul checkpoint for the last six days.
The officials of district administration said that these vehicles had missed the convoy earlier and would now be included in the next convoy.Several vehicles carrying food supplies to various parts of Kurram were not allowed to leave Thall as part of the convoy. As a result, these goods-laden vehicles remained stranded at the last police checkpoint in Thall at Tor Pul, waiting for clearance to enter Kurram.
According to the drivers, they were present with the convoy yesterday but were left behind due to time constraints, that was why they were still awaiting clearance to join the convoy to Parachinar.
The district administration officials said that the vehicles left behind from the previous convoy will be included in the next convoy, and arrangements are being made for the new convoy.
It may be mentioned that a sit-in by Ahl-e-Sunnat has been going on in Mandori for several days. The protestors are demanding immediate relief for the victims of the burnt market, houses and mosques in Bagan. They are also demanding the implementation of Apex Committee decisions, including the collection of weapons, the dismantling of bunkers, and the filing of cases against those responsible for burning Bagan. They are also demanding immediate release of Malik Saifullah, a tribal elder of the Masozi tribe in lower Kurram
