LAHORE: Following the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, the Lahore Police Thursday arrested 33 accused on the charges of violating Kite Flying Act. According to the spokesman for Lahore Police, some 32 accused were booked and 64 kites and 26 spools of metallic string were recovered from the detained accused.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed the police to intensify the crackdown on those involved in the kite-flying business. He asked cops to take strict action against those involved in manufacturing, selling and using metallic strings in hoisting kites.
The CCPO ordered strict monitoring of online sale of kites and strings and called for special steps to stop the transportation of raw material used in kites making at city's entry points. He urged parents to prevent their children from participating in kite-flying activities.
IGP takes notice of 3 murders
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Thursday took the notice of the murder of three people on Sargodha-Khushab Road. The IGP sought a report from the Regional Police Officer (RPO), Sargodha and directed the District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha to ensure the immediate arrest of the killers.
345 electricity thieves arrested
Punjab police have registered 2,500 cases and arrested 345 electricity thieves across the province, including Lahore in one month. In addition, over 1,400 electricity thieves were fined and sentenced. Around 235 electricity thieves were arrested and 667 cases were registered in Lahore.
