SHC restrains irrigation dept from acting on advertisement for appointments
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday restrained the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) from acting upon the advertisement for the post of GM (transition) and issuing any appointment letter of the said post till further orders.
The interim order came on a petition filed by irrigation department officials against direct appointment for the post of GM (transition) and other posts. The petitioners, Syed Mohammad Ali Shah and others, had submitted that the provincial government issued an advertisement for the post of GM (transition), GM (operational) and other posts in violation of the service rules. They submitted that the posts had to be filled through promotion among the suitable candidates, however, the respondent department ignored the criteria for the appointment and issued the impugned advertisement.
A division bench of the high court headed by Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput directed SIDA to file comments on the petition and in the meantime, restrained the respondents from acting upon the advertisement.
